Sondi Sodsal - Sondi (Liberty, 1959)

Si ça ce n'est pas de l'exotica, je me demande ce qui le sera. La demoiselle est native de Thaïlande, mais avec un collier de fleurs autour du cou on pourrait aussi bien croire qu'elle nous vient de Hawaii. Tout ce côté vraie/fausse carte postale participe finalement au charme du disque, pour peu qu'on accepte de jouer le jeu! Et comme c'est le grand Martin Denny qui produit l'album, on peut lui faire confiance pour livrer un cocktail des plus plaisants, puisqu'il en connait parfaitement les recettes.

Note : Classic Thai pop LP by Sondi Sodsai. She was voted "Miss Thailand" in 1960. She also appeared in an obscure TV-series named "Adventures in Paradise" in the early sixties, and represented the stereotype of a Tahitian beauty. And she is or was the court-entertainer of the King and Queen of Thailand, as it is stated on the record. It´s the cryptic writing on top of the front cover, that looks like Thai, but is in fact English. The album was produced by Martin Denny.
